Access Control -

In general access control systems enable management to limit who may go to which areas within a facility on which days and at which times. Most access control systems also enable management to go back and audit activity.

In the public's mind access control is often confused with electronic key entry systems, but they actually have major differences. Electronic key entry systems merely enable people to release doors via an electronic means. Similarities between key entry and access control systems are that both may use the same types of readers and electronic locks, but there the similarity ends.

For true access control the system must monitor the door position of each entry. One obvious reason for this is that if the first person who entered a door were to prop it open or if a door simply did not close and relock properly, then there would be no access control because anyone who followed could enter unobstructed.

To have an access control system the door status of all entries must be continually monitored, doors must close and relock securely, there must be a reader on the outside and a release mechanism on the inside.

There are literally dozens of options to consider when selecting an access control system for a specific application. AMERIGARD'S expert security staff can help you select the best options for your organizations needs and budget. In addition to controlling who goes where and when, modern access control systems have a new, important capability: they now can determine what a personnel take with them. This can be an extremely important feature in protecting high valued items such as notebook computers. By linking personnel identification with equipment identification, items can be automatically protected from being removed by unauthorized personnel. For example a personnel could be permitted to freely leave an area with their own notebook computers, but if anyone tried to leave with someone else's computer it would cause an immediate alarm.

Burglar Alarms -

Burglar alarms/intrusion detection systems have advanced tremendously over the last few years by incorporating computer chips which make them smarter, less expensive and more versatile.

In addition to protecting against crime, fires and environmental hazards such as carbon monoxide, gas leaks, low temperature, water damage and so on, alarm controls now incorporate such functions as access control and automation functions to control lighting, HVAC and other building/home functions.

Companies that advertise they provide "free" or low cost alarm systems for customers who agree to sign up for multi-year monitoring contracts are really deceiving the public. Normally they offer the cheapest equipment installed by poorly trained technicians. They are no bargain and they are not "free". The cost is simply buried in the monthly fee.

However, the total cost of a good alarm system can truly be less than the savings it provides making the net cost free. Good alarm systems installed by reputable companies are not free - nothing worthwhile ever is, but they can provide substantial savings on insurance, taxes, heating air conditioning bills, lighting and more. And, most importantly they can protect adequately against losses due to crime, fires and environmental hazards. Cheap, defective or incomplete systems inadequately installed cannot provide proper protection.

Unique Fire Alarm Protection -

There is a now a very exciting new tool which is especially applicable to preservation projects, landmark buildings, residential buildings, galleries, museums, theaters and many other situation. AMERIGARD was granted MEA approval from the City of New York for its wireless fire alarm and security system. This is the first and only wireless system to ever be approved by New York City. It is also the only one to be approved by Underwriter Laboratories, BOCA, and the National Fire Protection Association. It is that outstanding!

The reason this system has so many advantages is that it meets all building and fire code requirements while requiring no wires to be run to detectors. Therefore, in critical environments the conflict between installing mandated fire protection and avoiding wire runs has been eliminated. Wiring is no longer necessary.

Where alarms must be installed in buildings containing asbestos, costly abatement mandated by hardwired systems often can be completely avoided; this is because wireless detectors can be installed without disturbing asbestos laden walls and ceilings. The system is also ideal to protect campus settings, out buildings, temporary structures and mobile facilities, which can all report to a central console without inter building wiring.
